When Mr. Elston's Outdoor Skills class headed out to Sisters on the Wednesday before winter break, they weren't expecting perfect weather—and they didn't get it. But that didn't stop them. With permits in hand and determination in their hearts, the students ventured into a snow storm to cut down Christmas trees, turning what could have been a miserable day into an unforgettable experience.

The real magic happened when they brought those freshly cut trees back to school. The students donated their harvest to spread holiday cheer throughout the community while enjoying some well-deserved hot chocolate with their classmates. It was the perfect way to warm up after a cold day in the field—and a meaningful reminder that the best outdoor adventures often combine learning, community service, and a little bit of weather-induced character building.
