RPA students work on projects for Black History Month

English instructor Hallie Caron’s ninth and tenth grade English classes have been working on individual research projects to study and recognize Black History Month.

Students were given the opportunity to choose any topic related to Black History Month and are using various note-taking methods to gather research on their chosen topics. Topics vary significantly but include the Little Rock Nine, Freedom Riders, Greensboro Sit-Ins, Joe Louis, Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson, and the 15th Amendment.

For the week of Feb. 17, students will take their gathered research and respond to the following questions:

  • Why is___________ significant to African American progress and history?
  • How did____________ influence the progress for African Americans?
  • What impact did___________have on the Civil Rights Movement?
