RPA Robotics earns advancement to state qualifying tournament

Redmond Proficiency Academy’s Robotics Team #5627 was the second place alliance and won the Design Award at the FIRST Tech Challenge Skystone Qualifying Tournament in Tigard, Ore. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020. The successful placement grants them advancement to the state qualifying tournament on Saturday, Feb.15 in Roseburg, Ore.
“I am very proud of this team,” said Josh White, robotics instructor. “They performed well against some strong teams from the Portland area and were able to prepare for the tournament with very little notice.”
The team now has three weeks to prepare for the next competition and students are currently hard at work to make improvements on their design and programming.
“Our robot Bessie did tremendously well and we are excited to continue to work on it for the rest of the season,” freshman Bodie Dachtler said. “This year has been a great experience for me and the rest of the members on the team, and we are looking forward to the challenges to come.”
