Some 25 RPA middle school students have signed up to start a school newspaper with a goal of connecting the middle school community.

The students meet every Wednesday during their enrichment class schedule, giving the students a break from their regular academic schedule and allowing them to focus on personal interests, hobbies and building relationships with peers and teachers.

According to instructor Joel Fisher, the newspaper project hopes to connect the middle school community in more personal ways and connect middle school students to the entire RPA community.  “We want our students here to find connection and meaning in our close community, and have a platform for them to share their voice,” Fisher said.

They are aiming for their first publication to drop on Feb. 1.
