RPA High School Offering Summer School Programs

It’s that time of year again and we want to let you know about RPA’s High School Summer School programs, and remind you that the last day to sign up for summer programs will be Monday, June 13. We want to provide you with all the information you will need to successfully sign your student up for a course with one of our community partners. RPA is partnering with Central Oregon Community College (COCC), OSU-Cascades, and the Redmond Area Parks and Recreation District (RAPRD) to offer their summer school programming to RPA students at no cost. Students are welcome to enroll in multiple programs if it works with their schedules.

OSU-Cascades is offering a Summer Academy that offers a great way for high school students to check out college for a week. This six-day program for high school students introduces students to life on a college campus, and students will earn a college scholarship doing it. Students will meet new friends while exploring their academic and career interests with university professors and experts. And, it’s summertime in Bend — so students will be getting outside — with daily adventures led by student leaders and staff. You can find out more about OSU-Cascades Summer Academy here. Both day camp and overnight camp options are available to students. When registering for the OSU-Cascades Summer Academy, you can use code RPASumAcad2022 to get an $0 payment option since RPA will be covering the cost for this course for interested students.

Interested students can also participate in COCC Youth Camps that focus on enhancing student culinary and language skills. You can find out more about COCC Youth Camps here. New camps are constantly being added so check back regularly here for new camp opportunities. When registering for COCC Youth Camps, families can use the discount code YOUTHRPA to sign up for no cost.

Students are also able to enroll in summer activities that take place with the Redmond Area Parks and Recreation District (RAPRD). RAPRD is offering a variety of summer activities including yoga, kendo, photography, youth tech camps, sports camps, and skills clinics. You can find out more about RAPRD summer activities at their website. RPA will pay for the costs of RPA students to participate in RAPRD summer activities. Families will need to create an account (if they don’t already have one) and RPA will credit that account for the cost of the summer activity. Once families indicate what activities they want to participate in on the High School Summer Programs Sign Up Form, RPA staff will communicate that with RAPRD. RAPRD will then register students for the activities if the family has an account with RAPRD. Please note that family accounts may show a balance due until RPA is invoiced for the cost, but that RPA will pay for all costs for RPA students to attend RAPRD summer activities. If the family does not have an account with RAPRD, RPA will be advised and contact the family. Please know that this may slow the registration process. Please feel free to reach out to RPA at 541-526-0882 with any questions about this process.

Please note that you will have to sign up with the actual community organization to enroll your student in their programs, but that families must complete the High School Summer Programs Sign Up Form to indicate their interest in community programs so RPA can arrange payment.

RPA is also offering their own summer programs. You can review our HS Summer School Programs Guide to get more details about the exciting activities and classes we are planning for students this summer.
