RPA enjoys successful College Application Week

Over 100 RPA High School seniors visited the Future Center for assistance with the college application process during the school’s College Application Week from Oct. 21-25, 2019, according to High School Director Sten Swanston.

Students received information on financial aid, essay writing, letters of recommendation, choosing the right college, and how to fill out the Common Application, an undergraduate college admission application that applicants may use to apply to any of more than 800 member colleges and universities throughout the United States and world.

As early admission for many colleges is Nov. 1, students were able to use the week to make significant progress in meeting that deadline, Swanston said.

In addition to the paperwork, students also participated in raffles throughout the week, with the grand prize of a minifridge to take to college.

“We would like to remind students and parents that Future Center staff are here to help navigate not only the college application process but all post-high school plans such as trade school, military, and workforce options,” Swanston said.

Central Oregon Youth Connect is also located in the Future Center for students who are interested in obtaining internships in Central Oregon.
