Redmond Proficiency Academy hosting Launch of Future Center

Redmond Proficiency Academy (RPA) will host an evening launching the newly named Future Center on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Formerly called the Career Center, the Future Center will be the place for students and families to explore not only career possibilities, but seek financial aid, and begin post-high school planning for two-year college, four-year college, trade school, military, and the workforce.

“We are excited about not just the physical space for the Future Center, but the reimagining of how best to serve our students’ post-high school plans from the moment they step through our doors,” said Sten Swanston, Director of Operations. “The Future Center will provide families and students with the resources needed to begin thinking about what comes after high school and options for pursuing those opportunities.”

Beginning this year, counselors will be present in the Future Center throughout the week in order to assist seniors interested in post-high school planning. Additionally, for the first time in RPA’s history, counselors will follow students from 9th through 12th grade, allowing them to play a significant role in helping students plan for the future.

Students, families and interested community members will be able to tour the Future Center space and learn more about how the center will serve as a resource for RPA students.

Three colleges and an army recruiter will be on-site to talk with students and parents during the evening event. Two mini financial aid sessions will run at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

The launch will take place on the 2nd floor of the Glacier Building at 657 SW Glacier Ave in Redmond.
