Oregon Observatory’s inflatable planetarium visits RPA’s astronomy classes
The Oregon Nature Center and Observatory’s inflatable planetarium recently visited RPA’s Planetary Astronomy class, taking students on a tour of the solar system.
Students visited planets, dwarf planets (e.g., Pluto), major moons and talked about which planets and moons NASA is invested in exploring further and why.
“It’s tough to teach a class indoors, during the day, that should ideally be taught outside at night, but the traveling planetarium is an awesome way for students to get an astronomy experience right here in the classroom,” instructor Amy Mitchell said.
Located in Sunriver, Ore, the Oregon Nature Center and Observatory focuses on education, research, and conservation, and is widely recognized as Central Oregon’s foremost authority on the natural sciences.
