Middle School Theatre Students Play Superheroes with Kindergarten Class

Students from Karly Wade’s middle school theatre classes recently spent a week teaching a Superhero Unit at Hugh Hartman Elementary. Theys tarted the week with performances from their upcoming play and from there taught a variety of games, helped the Kindergarten students create characters and ended the week with performances for their teachers and families.

The middle school students were nervous at the start of the week, but fell in love with their kindergarten buddies by the end of the first day, Wade said.

They worked in pairs with the same group of 5-6 Kindergarten students each day, narrated their skits and performed alongside them on the last day.

“They started the week nervous and unsure but by the end of the week almost all of them participated in final performances and they were excitedly running around the learning space with their new capes, masks and superhero powers,” said Wade. “It was a successful week for all!”
