Middle School Students Visit Erickson Aircraft Collection

Middle School teacher Samantha Tonroe’s STEM Lab class recently visited Erickson Aircraft Collection in Madras. Erickson Aircraft displays a vintage aircraft collection started by Jack Erickson in 1983. The aviation museum features over twenty rare aircraft, most of which are still in flying condition. The newly named Collection features rare aircraft that are still in flying condition such as the P-38 Lightning, P-51 Mustang, Ki43 Hayabusa, F4U Corsair, SBD Dauntless, Grumman Duck ¬†and B-17 Flying Fortress.

Students, who are currently learning about the mechanics of aviation, were able to experience the evolution of the aviation sector from the start of WWII until the end of WWII. They were able to board a plane and get an idea of how tough the working conditions were during WWII.
