Middle School Students Learn How to Make Fossils

Middle School students in Science Instructor Jessica Schueler’s class recently made fossils with coffee grounds. You read that correctly. Using a mixture of flour, water, salt and coffee grounds, students were able to simulate how actual fossils are made in nature. They added items like leaves, mushrooms and pine branches to the mixture, let them dry over the weekend, and returned the next week to some pretty cool looking fossils!
