Middle School Students Clean Up RPA’s Adopted Roadway in Redmond

Did you know RPA Middle School adopted its own section of road in Redmond? That’s right, middle school students and staff have been the proud parents of a portion of road on Antler Avenue between 27th and Rimrock Way since 2020.

Some RPA middle school students recently found out about RPA’s little piece of roadway and decided to organize a litter cleanup. After spending an advisory day reading about the procedures, policies and looking at maps, they got out their gloves and bags and began to walk their stretch of road, step-by-step, beautifying it for all who travel that section.

Students said there was a lot more litter than they anticipated and they even had a competition to see who could find the weirdest trash.

Student Romy Arends said they had fun and hope to clean the section of road on a regular basis. “I learned that we all have to help the world to make it a better place,” Arends said.
