Middle School Engages in Penny Wars to Help the Community

The middle school is hosting a month-long coin drive (AKA Penny Wars) to raise money for the Holiday Giving Tree. Each grade will work to earn points by raising coins and can deduct points from other grades. The winning grade level will earn a prize.

All money raised will go to local families who may need extra support or gifts during the holidays.

Here’s how it works:

Students can put pennies and bills in their grade level jar, which earns them class points, and put silver coins in other grade level containers that lose them points. Whatever grade level earns the most points at the end of the month wins a huge class party.

Students have raised a little over $1,000 so far and are excited to be able to help bring the magic of the holidays to local families in the community.
