McClay Theater play hosts to jazz band from San Francisco

On Monday, April 17, RPA’s McClay Theater played host to the musical group, the Hot Club, a San Francisco-based jazz band. The performance was one of the Redmond Community Concert Association’s student outreach concerts.
The Hot Club is a gypsy jazz group that promotes the music and tradition of Django Rheinhardt and his Hot Club of France. The group features three guitar players, a bassist, and violinist. RPA students were treated to a short set and Q and A session. Music students were able to ask a professional touring group about their musical background, equipment, practice routines, sources of inspiration etc.
“As a music teacher it is such a treat to share with the students where their hard work could lead and to introduce them to a new genre of music,” said Jonathan Moore, RPA’s music director. “It is also wonderful to show them a model of what we are aiming for in our own performances regardless of genre.”
