How RPA Addresses Inclement Weather

As the weather in Central Oregon begins a change we wanted to remind you of how RPA addresses inclement weather and school closures.
During inclement weather, RPA typically observes the Redmond School District school closures. We make student safety a priority at RPA, and we take careful precautions to ensure the safety of our students and families when inclement weather strikes.
We understand that decisions about school schedules and bus route changes have an impact on our families. We appreciate your patience during these situations. While we know that our students and families are best served when we are open, our main concern is the safety of our students and staff.
When we have a weather delay our school offices are staffed beginning at 7:00 a.m. Students riding CET buses are welcome to ride their normal route, as staff will be available at our buildings to provide supervision. (Please note that middle school students who ride CET will need to walk to the Glacier Building on the high school campus downtown, as the RPA Shuttle will also be on a two-hour delay. Middle school students will be shuttled from the high school to the middle school in time for classes to begin.) Similarly, students who need to arrive at their regular time due to family work schedules and/or commitments are also welcome to do so. Supervision will be provided prior to classes starting. Students who are not able to attend due to weather delays can access their coursework for the day through Google Classroom.
During inclement weather, please make the best decision for the safety of your family. Decisions regarding inclement weather delays or school cancellations are made in the early morning, before school. Once the decision to delay and/or close has been made, that information is communicated to students, parents, and staff using the Alma information system, posted on our website, Facebook, Instagram, and immediately through local media outlets.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
