Disc Golf class is keeping students on course

When middle school students need a break from the traditional classroom setting for a bit, teacher Matt Garcia’s Wednesday enrichment program, Disc Golf, is just the thing for getting outside and burning through some energy.
On most Wednesdays, the class walks from the middle school to Redmond’s Dry Canyon to play at the disc golf course in the canyon. Because of short class periods, they are usually pressed for time, often heading back to campus after completing just a few holes.
To that end, they recently organized an all-day field trip to the DGA-recognized disc golf course at Bend’s Pine Nursery Park, providing the students more time to play several holes – some even getting 18 holes completed.
