Developing guitar heroes at RPA

In Music Instructor Andrew Blaylock’s Guitar classes, students begin learning the guitar with basic chords and rhythm practice, learning songs at a beginner level and practicing switching chords.

After getting a grasp of open chords, they’ll try out power chords and learn some beginner-level electric guitar songs (think: Green Day and Weezer).

Lately, they’ve been working on identifying chords by ear and how to identify note names all across the fretboard. This week they’re playing a game where they roll a six-sided die to determine the string and a 20-sided die to determine the fret, then it’s a race to see who can identify the note.
