Redmond Proficiency Academy Middle School will once again gather donations to purchase gifts for holiday giving trees throughout the community
According to Middle School Instructor Myria Gautreaux, the school will strive to raise $2,500, which will go directly to buying holiday gifts for local children with limited resources.
The middle school will collaborate with the Redmond Chamber of Commerce to gather anonymous tags from giving trees in the community. All gifts will be distributed to families confidentially.
Multiple fundraising efforts have been planned, with a Giving Tree kick-off carnival for students scheduled for Nov. 8, 2019, between 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the middle school. The carnival will feature jousting, face painting, ring toss, corn hole and karaoke.
Following the carnival, the school will begin its “Pennywars” effort, where community members are able to donate toward the fundraising goal. Cash/coin donations will be accepted at the school until Dec. 13, and they will set up a GoFundMe donation page to allow online contributions.
Middle school staff and students will then visit local retailers, WalMart and Fred Meyer, to purchase gifts for each child.
