Community Volunteers Needed! Click here for more information.
Redmond Proficiency Academy takes seriously its part in our local community. As a school, we are committed to getting our students out of the classroom and into real-life circumstances in order to create an environment that:
1. - Helps our students find their ‘fit’ both in terms of future college/career choices and the ways they can connect to and invest in the people in their sphere of influence.
2. - Encourages our students to be aware of their environment, give where they can, and learn to use their voice in productive ways.
3. - Shows the community that our students can be counted on and valued as an asset to their endeavors.
Our goal is to get our students out into the community in meaningful ways (volunteering, job shadows, work-experience) and to get community members into our school in meaningful ways (speaking, mentoring, baking, or otherwise using their gifts, skills, and talents) so that our students can experience the full impact of community living.
In that vein, during the first term we are offering a class called “Community Voices” where students can learn networking and communications skills, hear community members share their stories, and get hands-on experience in different community forums.
During the second term we will be offering a class called “Community Seminar” where students will be hearing from people who represent different cultures and ways of thinking. We are excited to enlist our community to share its voice!
If you have any interest in sharing your story, experience, or skills with our classes, please click here to access the forms and contact information needed. Thank you!
